Monitoring the hydrolysis or disappearance of starch by the starch iodine test is a simple procedure for determining the maturity of cider apples, but it does not indicate the exact amount of starch present. So far, studies of starch in apples have dealt exclusively with dessert apples. In this paper the relationship between the visual starch index, the dark‐coloured surface area and the real starch content was studied in two varieties of cider apple commonly used in Normandy (France). Starch determination in cider apples required adapting the protocol provided by the Boehringer enzymatic kit. The work led to proposing a simplified index with five scales instead of 10. This index gives the correspondences between the new and old scales as well as the probable starch contents for each new scale. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Dispersion–flocculation studies on a Goethite–clay system using flocculants were carried out as a function of flocculant concentrations, pH of slurry, time of agitation and dispersant dosage. Also, the effects of pH and polymer concentrations on the adsorption behaviour of the system were investigated. Results show that well flocculated goethite was preferentially obtained from 4% goethite/kaolinite clay suspensions, with 50 ppm causticised starch in the slurry at pH values of 3–11·5 and with 50 ppm polyacrylamide at pH values of 3–8. Good flocs were also obtained on flocculation of the goethite suspension with 50 ppm polyacrylamide at pH values of 5–7, while the kaolinite suspension did not respond to the same dosage of causticised starch in the same pH range. Results further reveal that for the goethite/kaolinite suspension, the best results was obtained with 50 ppm polyacrylamide at pH values of 7–10. Based on the data generated in the study, it was concluded that causticised starch is a better flocculant than polyacrylamide for goethite suspensions although polyacrylamide is an excellent flocculant for kaolinite suspensions.  相似文献

Lutein and lutein esters in marigold flowers was quantitatively determined by high performance chromatography (HPLC) with ODS-C18 column. A mixture of CH3CN-CH3OH-CH3COOCH2CH2 with volume ratio of 55:1:44 was used as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0mL/min and detection was carried out at 480 nm. The column temperature was about 20℃. The contents of lutein and lutein esters were determined by analytical curve of lutein since lutein and lutein esters have the same spectral characteristics. Determination results of hexane extracts and saponified samples of lutein show that the saponification transforms the esters into free lutein. The increase of the content of dipalmitate and palmitate stearate reveals that the reaction includes transesterifications.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: 2,3‐Butanediol (2,3‐BD) is a valuable chemical that can be biosynthesized from many kinds of substrates. For commercial biological production of 2,3‐BD, it is desirable to use cheap substrate without pretreatment, such as starch. However, there have been few reports on the production of 2,3‐BD directly from starch. RESULTS: In this work, gene malS coding for α‐amylase (EC 3.2.1.1) precursor was inserted into plasmid pUC18K, and secretory over‐expression of α‐amylase was achieved by engineered Klebsiella pneumoniae. The extracellular recombinant amylase accelerated the hydrolyzation of starch, and one‐step production of 2,3‐BD from starch was carried out by engineered K. pneumoniae. A 2,3‐BD concentration of 3.8 g L?1 and yield of 0.19 g 2,3‐BD g?1 starch were obtained after 24 h fermentation. CONCLUSION: The one‐step production of 2,3‐BD from starch was achieved by secretory over‐expression of amylase in K. pneumoniae. This would simplify the process and reduce the production cost considerably by enabling use of starch with minimal pretreatment. Copyright © 2008 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A polyester urethane was synthesized for use in a biodegradable scaffold. The polyurethane was synthesized in a two-step process: first, ester diol was synthesized from lactic acid and polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400), then it was polymerized with toluene diisocyanate using dibutyl tin dilaurate (DBTDL) as a catalyst to form a polyester urethane. Polyester urethane has tensile strength of 51-59 MPa and elongation at fracture of 369-439%. FTIR and XRD were used to confirm the formation and structure of the polymer. Hydrolytic degradation was studied in different alkali solutions and in saline water. In order to assess the cellular response of this material, cytotoxicity analysis was carried out against the cell line.  相似文献

Wax esters enriched in ω-3 fatty acids have been recently shown to be readily absorbed by rats after dietary supplementation. Wax esters are less prone to oxidation and can be better formulated than liquid ω-3 derivatives. All these characteristics suggest a possible use of wax esters enriched in ω-3 as food supplements. However, some naturally occurring wax esters are defined as scarcely digestible (jojoba oil, spermaceti). On the other hand, wax esters have been found in several sources of marine origin, which can enter normal foodstuff. In order to better understand the digestibility of wax esters, we have analysed some foods from marine sources. The content of triglycerides and wax esters of the foods has been determined. Moreover, wax esters have been analysed for their composition in alcohols and fatty acids. Wax esters have been shown to be a part of the neutral lipid extract of the foods analysed. Their content, if compared with the content in triglycerides, shows striking differences. In the case of two botargo preparations, it has been shown that wax esters are more than 90% of the total neutral lipid extract. The content of fatty acids and alcohols found in the foods analysed is consistent with published data.  相似文献

The effects of temperature, initiator, and accelerator levels on the curing of an epoxy bisphenol‐A vinyl ester resin Derakane® 411‐45 (formulated with styrene) were investigated by gel‐time and exotherm‐peak measurements on bulk samples. It was observed that the gel time was reduced as the initiator or accelerator ratio increased. Except at higher contents of the accelerator, a small kinetic plateau was seen in the gel curve and a shift of the maximum exotherm toward high temperatures in the DSC curves. This was explained by the dual role played by the accelerator species. A regression analysis of all gel‐time data showed a dependence of 3/2 order in the accelerator and first order in the initiator concentrations. Thus, for this polymerization initiation system, the gel time can be predicted for any initiator and cobalt levels and at any temperature within the ranges studied. 由乙烯基三乙氧基硅烷与KH-550、丙烯酸酯类单体在阴/非离子表面活性剂存在下,通过乳液聚合制得带蓝光的半透明有机硅丙烯酸酯乳液.该乳液粘度小,有机硅质量分数15%,总固体质量分数30%,该增深剂既可单独使用,也可与氨基硅油乳液复配,经蓝色16电力纺、黑色03双绉等真丝产品增深,其增深度可达15%,但亲水性有所下降.  相似文献
